What are skin conditions?

Skin conditions affects many of us, and certain hazardous substances found in the workplace can increase the impact of existing skin conditions or trigger new skin conditions.

Employers have a duty of to identify all skin irritants and sensitisers to control exposure to products known to cause occupational dermatitis. Skin assessments can help to identify and control skin problems related to the workplace.

Skin surveillance

Risks to health, from the workplace environment should be controlled as far as reasonably possible, when the risk cannot be eliminated, and there is a risk to health, skin checks should be performed to identify any health issues.

The law states there is a duty from both the employee and the employer to minimise risk.
